There are so many days that I wake up over and over wondering what heaven is like and what Christian sees every day. A little while ago Nevan wondered the same thing. I told him that I wasn’t sure but that heaven was probably the most amazing place that you could dream of.
We decided together that we should ask Christian and see what he tells us. Every night before Nevan went to bed, after our prayers he asked Christian to give him a dream about heaven. For two weeks we asked Christian for a dream and Nevan started to get discouraged. I told him that it was probably pretty difficult to write a dream and deliver it to a specific person on earth, and that Christian was still learning how to do all of those things. A couple of nights later Nevan got his answer.
Nevan woke up, very excited and said that in his dream all three of us died in a volcano eruption and went to heaven (Nevan loves volcanos). He said he wasn’t scared and he didn’t feel any pain. He was really happy to be there. When he got to heaven it was whatever he wanted it to be so he chose to build a big jungle. Nevan was having difficulty making a giant river to flow through his jungle because he was using a garden hose and it was taking too long for the river to fill. He told me that he prayed to God for help with his river while he was in heaven, and the river was immediately filled.
In the middle of his jungle he found a giant tree that he described as the tree of life. When I asked him about the tree he said it looked similar to the Celtic tree of life. At the base of the tree he said there was a holy black rock with three holy gold coins sitting on the rock. This is when he woke up.
Nevan did tell me that he was really disappointed that he didn’t see Christian in his dream, however he did get his answer. Heaven is exactly what you want it to be and whatever you make it…your perfect world. I told Nevan that Christian probably didn’t think about writing himself into Nevans’ dream, he was just trying to show Nevan exactly what heaven was, which is why Nevan didn’t get to see him.
So to answer the initial question that Nevan and I had, if I had to come up with the perfect heaven that Christian might have built for himself, it would be Disneyland. Christian would absolutely be able to fly in his heaven and there would never be any lines. He would ride Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean over and over with all of his family and every day he could be a different superhero. That’s what I think Christian’s heaven would be like and I can’t wait to see it!
